Gegroet
Het lanklaas iets gepost, maar hier kom dit.
My fiets het sopas 24000 km gedoen.
Ek't hom van voor tot agter volgens die manual versien.
Van vars olie en filter, sparkplug, die subframe boude, die works.
Maar nie die shims nie. (Ek vertrou myself nie genoeg om daar te krap nie en weet nie van iemand hierrond [PE] wat my kan help nie.)
Nou my vrae:
1. Hoe lank kan ek uitstel voor dit krities noodsaaklik is om n draai by die Stealers te maak sodat die shims gecheck moet word?
2. Waarna moet ek kyk of luister om te weet dat ek nou my gat moet roer voor daar n fout kom?

Luister as jy hulle nie hoor klap nie is dit tentatief tyd. Hulle sê die fietse kom ook moeiliker asn did gang, dan is daai een van die plekke om te krap

Caveat- my advice may be dangerous!!!

Difficult cold starting is a sign that the valves needs to be checked. I also think that the checking of the valves should be done by a professional, it is very easy to strip the threads of the valve cover resulting in a lot more issues.

My bike is on 94k km and the valves have only been checked once, cold starting is still very easy so I trust that all is still ok.

A clean airlifted apparently helps to limit wear on the valves.

Somebody like capeklr and Groenie will give you the right answer.

Hi,
checking the valve clearances is in theory a simple job, but you do need a small
torque wrench.
The valve cover bolts strip very easily. They are only torqued to 7.8N/m
If adjustment is needed then the cams have to come out to be able to remove the shims
and replace with other sizes.
That means resetting the chain tensioner and the valve timing.
A clean and the correct air filter will help in reducing wear on the valves.
Aftermarket air filters very often do not filter all the dirt out.

As stated, if your bike does not have trouble starting (mine fires at the first turn of the engine) then you can leave the valves be.

It is an extensive job for a beginner (it requires removing quite a lot of merchandise and takes some time), but all-in-all very simple.

CapeKLR's advice regarding the torque wrench is golden. DO NOT try to do this without one, you will strip those cover bolts!

Dankie vir al die responds.
Klink my die scoot is dan nog ok.
Geen probleem met koud start nie en ek is nogal erg op n skoon air filter.
So gepraat van airfilter. Hoe nat maak julle die spons met olie?
Ek gee myne net genoeg dat daar n olie resedue op die spons gevoel kan word as jy daaraan vat en nie papnat nie.
Hoor graag wat is julle take daarop.

Ek sit genoeg olie op sodat ek seker is elke deeltjie is gecover. Daarna squeeze ek soveel olie uit soos wat ek kan met my hand.

Gebruik air filter olie in 'n spuitkannetjie. Cover hom binne en buite en squeeze die ekstra uit met 'n cheesecloth. Sit hom oor die cage en smeer die rand wat vas druk met ghries. Dit keer dat stof tussen die boks en die filter kan deur kom.

Ek was hulle met petrol om die olie los te kry en dan sommer Prepsol en spoel uit onder die kraan.
