Have you got too much time on your hands? ;)

Scotchbrite scourers work well. Scotchbrite, prepsol, water.

The rear spokes are dull, thought I'll try to clean them. Will a light metal polish work? Will the spokes not rust afterwards?

I've used Flitz metal polish and ultra fine steel wool (00 grade / cabinet maker use).

Ek dink die speke is chrome-plated steel. So ja, as jy die chrome afpolish kan hulle roes, maar ek dink nie jy moet SO erg polish nie. Gebruik die scotch-brite net om skoon te maak en dan is ek seker 'n bietjie polish sal hulle maak blink.

Die chrome-plating is nie so sensitief soos jou vrou se teflon-pan nie. :P

Flitz & ultra fine steel wool works great on chrome... nice lustre without removing the chrome to point of exposing metal that will rust.. B)

Thanks for the advice. I used metal polish with a soft cloth on one of the spokes and it seems to be effective. Was concerned about the rust.

Piet -- I am looking for excuses to lubricate the swing arm. I was supposed to do it last winter. :(

Excuses to or excuses NOT to?

You don't need an excuse...Just do it! Otherwise you will need to borrow Gix's bolt-puller tool.

My friend and I did the same to his Fugly. Was kept in Melkbos for a while, so a bit rusty. We cleaned as far as we could, and then put the straws over. Looks cool. I'm dong mine this weekend.
Die donkie is 'n wonderlike ding ;)
