So after replacing the clutch pull arm +_ 600km ago.. i discovered a puddle under my bike yesterday.

Checked.. and its coolant. I took real care with the washers and seals when i did the clutch job so a bit disappointed at this latest setback.

The coolant is coming from that tiny hole below pump housing...

I guess that mechanical seal does not like to be disturbed once run in?? Or could it be something else i cocked up?

Gotto move on this one before the Dome run!!

If you took the clutch cover off, then you have to replace that seal and if I remeber correctly an o-ring as well...Fortunately it's not the biggest job in the world. Just a nuisance if the dealers do not have stock of the seal. Consider replacing the clutch cover gasket as well.

And to answer your question - no, I don't think it will be anything other than that mechanical seal! :)

So... i stripped the waterpump. Interesting observations...

The white bit on the impeller looks like the rubber was busy climbing out behind the white seal part. It had an irregular imprint pattern on the ally impellor so was not seated properly.

The black half looks like its got 2 sets of wear marks.. slightly eccentric to each other. Perhaps i replaced it 180 degrees to the way it used to be originally?

Oh well... new seal to be collected tomorrow.... and fitted... and properly test run before Friday's Dome run!

Started stripping at 19:30... replaced oil seal and waterpump seal. New gaskets.. cleaned strainer and back together at 22:00!

Easy.. but a pita job. Short test run and no slick on the floor. Happiness!

Commute to work tomorrow to make sure then Dome... here i come!
