I had the bad experience of being confronted by a stranger in a bike shop and after asking me if the KLR is my bike started telling me what a crap bike the KLR is. I am saying crap but he used more plain language. Personally, i bought the klunker because i likes the looks and versatility of the bike. I always wanted a dual sport and speed was not one of the main requirements. Luckily for him i was in a good mood and did not feel like making a scene. I am still content with my purchase. I get tired of people gunning other guys bikes. I say each to his own.

Also in my opinion a lot of brand loyalty for the bike with the owners supporting and even befriending one another.

Great bike! Confidence booster to step on to other dirt orientated machines.

Totally jelly that you are riding a bike with heritage...

Yeah the KLR is not the best bike out there, it's heavy, it drinks oil, it needs upgrades,...
But honestly I bought it because its my first bike, it can go offroad and I won't care if I twist it into a pretzel.
The KLR is like vacuuming using a straw, you learn control and the basics, then you move up to a vacuum cleaner like a KTM or BMW that will take the hard work from you.

At the end of the day: Isn't it more important that more people are riding bikes and discovering the thrill of two wheels?
A motto that I beat into granite, with my size 13's, during my introduction to my personal kindergarten: "It will kill me, but you first!"

When I got mine I needed an affordable commuter that can handle dirtroads and whose speed wont kill me and which I can service and modify myself without special tools. KLR offered just that.
Then I stopped using it as my main commuting vehicle when I got a second car and found lots of fun out of using it to forget about work while driving very scenic and interesting dirtroads. Fell a few times and had either no damage, or very cheap to repair damage. Selling now because of the safety factor (bad roads and idiotic road users). But that applies to any bike you use one public roads. Just fell recently while cornering due to a spill on the road I didn't see (once again hardly any damage to the bike due to basic crashbars). Enjoyed the bike a lot and would not be selling if the safety factor was not an issue. Will buy one again in a wink should I decide to start riding again.

Having not owned any other brand
of dual sport motorcycle than kawasaki, I cannot speak for them. All I can
say is that the amount of fun I had on all 3 of my kawasaki dual sport machines
was astronomical and enough to make me fall in love with my set of wheels.
We have been through a lot..... together.
The lessons I've learned I will not easy forget and
looking back in seeing the person I've become
whilst riding....me , the machine....and my Maker. Standing together
in tough situations, picking ourselves up after an off, pushing onward
in a slippery spot and keeping on going when the going gets ruff. Though we sometimes
bottom out, come across failure, difficulty or pain, we always jump back.Like the wheels turning..onward..onward..onward, hitting rocks, ditches, splashing mud,
throwing stones, grass, sticks, clang clang goes the bash plate, follow the path..
follow the path...over, under, through, in, out....that's when I know that like myself,
the Great Rider Himself is guiding and steering my life's wheels in His path on my
journey to the greatest destination I will ever know....and that's why I ride a KLR.
Cause like my KLR, I'm under-powered, slow, fairly heavy and not exactly geared
for the journey but I have a Rider that is skilled, faithful and completely in
control and willing to to take me wherever He wants me to go .... God Bless.
It's never wrong to do the right thing

Ek het nou so ruk terug amper dieselfde vraag gevra " ń ou vra my so ruk terug nou waneer koop ek ń regte bike?

Goeie vraag..Hoekom nou juis 'n KLR.

Soopabaaik seker?
